" Success, Engagement & Empowerment Award"

The Black history month 2012 Committee at the University of Ottawa has selected RALPH LEROY to receive the " Success, Engagement & Empowerment Award" at the 3rd annual Black History Month Gala in Ottawa, Canada on Saturday February 4th, 2012. 

The Gala will welcome the 27th Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honorable Michaëlle Jean, Mr. Jean Daniel Lafond, His Royal Highness Prince Seeiso Bereng Seeiso of Lesotho and many other honorary guests such as, Ms. Jessica Bowden, Actress and choreographer Ms. Tré Armstrong, CTV anchor, Stefan O. Keyes, Team Canada Junior Basketball player Warren Ward, Miss Paula Whitelocke, Founder and President of Let’s Stop AIDS Shammin Mohammed Jr.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH GALA 2012

Ottawa, Ontario, January the 12th, 2012

    The BHM 2012 Committee at the University of Ottawa is organizing the 3rd annual Black History Month Gala at the University of Ottawa on Saturday February 4th 2012 at 6:00pm in Tabaret Hall, room 112. The Gala is the occasion to share knowledge, a history, to mingle and network with other students, honorary guests, members of diplomatic corps, teachers and many others.

For the 3rd year, the Gala will welcome the 27th Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honorable Michaëlle Jean, Mr. Jean Daniel Lafond, His Royal Highness Prince Seeiso Bereng Seeiso of Lesotho and many other honorary guests. A dinner will be served and guests will have the occasion to enjoy an award ceremony like no other!

The Black History Month Gala Committee is proud to announce the following award recipients:

  • -       His Royal Highness Prince Seeiso Bereng Seeiso of Lesotho who will pick up an award for His Royal Highness Prince Harry as well (who unfortunately will be training and unable to attend) for their collaborative work in Lesotho through "SENTEBALE".
  • -       Ms. Jessica Bowden
  • -       Actress and choreographer, Ms. Tré Armstrong
  • -       Designer extraordinaire, Ralph Leroy
  • -       CTV anchor, Stefan O. Keyes
  • -       Team Canada Junior Basketball player, Warren Ward
  • -       Miss Paula Whitelocke
  • -       Women NGO in Haiti, Fanm Deside
  • -       Founder and President of Let’s Stop AIDS, Shammin Mohammed Jr.

Tickets will be available for purchase at the Graduate Student Association, the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa and the International House as of Tuesday January 17th, 2012.

The Black History Month Gala is an initiative that was started in 2010. The main purpose was to involve the elders and the youth in an event that would inspire, encourage, motivate and recognize one and all that reach out and make a difference in their communities around the world and at
home and one and all that are achieving greatness.  
What better moment to do so than during the month of Black History celebration. Black History is universal and everyone should be acknowledged and involved in sharing knowledge through celebration.
